Wallis and Futuna Invasive Alien Species Preventive List - Rapid response plan and species factsheets

Abstract

The preventive list of invasive alien species of Wallis and Futuna was created in 2024 by a revision of the regulations, following a service provided by a biologist, and consultation with associations and services of the territory. It lists 123 species absent from the territory but present in the region, which Wallis and Futuna intends to preserve. The document compiles technical sheets for recognizing and managing the 123 species on the preventive list, relating to terrestrial, wetland, river and marine environments. The document also details the 6 stages of the rapid intervention plan drawn up to respond to introductions of invasive alien species in Wallis and Futuna: (i) receive the report, and collect the information; (ii) confirm the identification of the species; (iii) improve knowledge of the species' distribution; (iv) assess the situation and choose the management option; (v) draw up and implement an intervention plan and (vi) monitor.
