Abstract
The Vanuatu National Invasive Species Strategy and Action Plan (NISSAP) 2024–2030 provides the national framework for preventing, detecting, controlling, and managing invasive species that threaten Vanuatu’s biodiversity, ecosystems, economy, and human well-being. The strategy identifies priority invasive species, pathways of introduction, management priorities, institutional responsibilities, and strategic actions to strengthen biosecurity, build national capacity, improve surveillance and early detection, support rapid response, and restore affected ecosystems. Developed through national consultations and aligned with regional and international biodiversity frameworks, the NISSAP promotes coordinated action among government agencies, provincial authorities, communities, non-government organisations, and regional partners to reduce the impacts of invasive species and safeguard Vanuatu’s natural heritage and sustainable development objectives.
